Introducing Torn — dynamic resonance EQ

Shape soundwith precision.Tear through resonance.

A six-band dynamic EQ with transient detection, multi-band sidechain and a depth engine that breathes. Built for engineers who carve tone for a living.

§02 — THE INSTRUMENT

Meet Torn.

§03 — ARCHITECTURE

Six modules,
one instrument.

01

Depth

The core resonant engine. One knob to dial in how hard the dynamic bands push — from polite restraint to full-bodied movement.

Close-up of the Depth knob — a single rotary control that sets how hard the dynamic bands push.
02

6-Band EQ

Low, Lo-Mid, Mid, Hi-Mid, High, Air. Each band is fully dynamic with selectable filter shapes — bell, shelf, cut, slope.

Six-band EQ strip showing band labels Low, Lo-Mid, Mid, Hi-Mid, High and Air with frequency and gain values.
03

Dynamics

Attack and Release on the dynamic engine. Snap them tight for percussive control, or open them up for musical, breathing motion.

04

Transient

A dedicated detector that preserves attacks while the EQ does its work. Switch to Delta to hear exactly what Torn is moving.

05

Sidechain

Internal multi-band sidechain with Low, High and Gain — focus the dynamic response exactly where the source needs it.

Sidechain controls labelled Low, High and Gain for shaping the dynamic response.
06

Output

Calibrated output and parallel mix in a single move — drive Torn hard and dial it back to taste without leaving the plugin.

§04 — VISUAL FEEDBACK

See every decision.

Six band nodes laid across a high-resolution spectrum view. Pre/post curves overlay in real time so you always know what Torn is doing — and why.

  • ± 18 dB range
  • 30 Hz → 20 kHz, log-scaled
  • Drag-able band nodes
  • Pre / post / delta views

§05 — WHY TORN

Every mix is a decision.
Torn makes the right one faster.

  1. i.

    Fast inspiration

Curated starting points that sound finished. Move on in seconds, not sessions.

  2. ii.

    Unique sonic movement

Dynamic bands breathe with the source — a quality you normally chase with three plugins.

  3. iii.

    Powerful, quiet workflow

One window. No modes. No menus. Everything where your hands already are.

  4. iv.

    Serious tools for serious work

Phase-linear option. Mid/side. True bypass. 32-bit float. Built for the master bus.

§06 — POSITIONING

One plugin, the work of three.

A typical chain

  1. 01Static EQ to carve a fixed curve
  2. 02Resonance suppressor to chase peaks
  3. 03Multi-band compressor for movement
  4. 04Transient tool to keep attacks alive

Four windows. Four CPU hits. Four sets of automation.

Torn

  1. 01Six dynamic bands that adapt to the source
  2. 02Internal multi-band sidechain on every band
  3. 03Transient detector preserves the attack
  4. 04One Depth knob to set the whole engine

One window. 0.6% CPU. One automation lane that matters.

§08 — FAQ

Quick answers.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — a 14-day fully unlocked trial. No credit card, no watermark, no time-out noise. Just install, authorize with your email, and try Torn on a real session.

What's the refund policy?

30 days, no questions asked. If Torn doesn't earn its place on your master bus, email us with your order number and we'll refund the full amount within two business days.

How does activation work?

One license activates Torn on three machines simultaneously. You can deactivate a machine at any time from your account dashboard and move the slot somewhere else — useful when you upgrade hardware or move between studios.

Are updates included?

All v1.x updates are free, forever. Major version upgrades (v2.0, v3.0) ship with a discounted upgrade path for existing owners — typically 50% off the new license price.

Which DAWs are supported?

Anything that hosts VST3, AU or AAX. We test against Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, FL Studio, Reaper and Bitwig on every release. Other VST3-compatible hosts work too — let us know if you hit anything weird.

Does it run on Apple Silicon?

Yes — native ARM64 build on M1, M2, M3, M4. No Rosetta. CPU usage on an M2 Pro hovers around 0.6% per instance at 48 kHz.

Can I install it on my laptop and my studio machine?

Three machine slots per license, so yes — laptop, studio, plus a backup. All from one purchase.

What format does the installer ship as?

Signed and notarized .pkg on macOS, signed .exe on Windows. After checkout you'll get a download link plus your license key by email — typically within a few seconds.
